It was founded in 1948 with the objective of serving people with diabetes and others that has an interest in the subject/disease. Today, the organization is located all across Norway with 119 offices and about 35.000 registered members.
The Norwegian Diabetes Association is a member of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF).
Diabetes in Norway
Of Norway's 5 million inhabitants, there are approximately 375 000 people with diabetes. 28 000 of these have type 1-diabetes (insulin dependent diabetes). The rest have type 2-diabetes, and about half of them are undiagnosed.
